Position Summary

The Marketing and Communications Specialist is a strategic volunteer role responsible for amplifying BPN’s mission through diverse communication channels. This role encompasses social media management, content creation, brand messaging, and community outreach. While a primary focus remains on our Facebook and LinkedIn presence, the intern will also support email marketing, press releases, and multi-platform digital strategy. This position is vital for building BPN’s brand equity and ensuring our resources reach the BVI community and potential corporate partners.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications & Content Creation:

  • Copywriting: Draft compelling copy for newsletters, website updates, and promotional emails to keep the BPN community informed and engaged.
  • Storytelling: Help identify and draft "success stories" from our members to showcase the impact of BPN’s programs.
  • Brand Voice: Ensure all communications are consistent with BPN’s professional tone and adhere to brand guidelines across all touchpoints.

Digital & Social Media Management:

  • Multi-Channel Coordination: Plan and execute a monthly content calendar for Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X (Twitter), and YouTube.
  • Community Engagement: Moderate the BPN Facebook group and LinkedIn community, fostering professional dialogue and networking.
  • Visual Coordination: Work with the team to ensure all digital assets (images, video clips, and flyers) are high-quality and accessible.

Outreach & Awareness:

  • Campaign Support: Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns for BPN mixers, raffles, and annual fundraising events.
  • External Outreach: Identify and engage with relevant BVI-focused forums, professional associations, and external groups to expand BPN’s footprint.
  • Analytics: Track and report on the performance of digital campaigns and social media engagement to refine future strategies.

Administrative Support:

  • Coordinate with Marketing Director to align marketing efforts with organizational goals.
  • Attend virtual team meetings and provide progress reports on current projects.
  • Ensure all external communications meet digital accessibility standards.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field is a plus.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences (e.g., members vs. donors).
  • Proficiency in managing professional social media handles, particularly LinkedIn
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a consistent posting calendar.
  • Familiarity with the BVI community or a passion for disability advocacy is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Suite and a commitment to utilizing accessible digital tools.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Marketing Director.

Time Commitment

This is a volunteer position requiring an estimated commitment of 5–7 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.
